Tyco Electronics Donates US$150,000 (1 Million RMB) to China Earthquake Relief Effort

Apr 23, 2010

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland - Tyco Electronics Ltd. (NYSE: TEL) today announced a donation of US$150,000 (1 million RMB) to support earthquake relief efforts focused on Yushu in the Qinghai Province of China. On behalf of the company's 78,000 global employees around the world – Tyco Electronics made the cash contribution to the Red Cross Society of China to assist with overall rescue and recovery efforts. The company is also working with Chinese authorities to determine what Tyco Electronics products and services can be donated to help.

According to Tyco Electronics' Chief Executive Officer Tom Lynch, "Our thoughts are with the people of Yushu as thousands of victims struggle to survive in freezing cold and with limited medical care, food, water and shelter. While our company does not have operations in the Qinghai province, we want to assist with the overall relief effort. Our Human Resources team in China also is establishing cash donation collection points at our sites in China so that employees can donate through local charities."
