Electronics Workbench Re-Confirms Its Commitment to the Mainstream, Professional PCB Design Market While Others Pull Back

Mar 14, 2003

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 2003--Electronics Workbench today announces it has been aggressively growing its investments in new products and innovation to maintain focus on addressing the needs of the mainstream professional PCB design market. This is in stark contrast to other tool vendors who have scaled back their commitment to the shrink-wrapped EDA market laying off staff, discontinuing sales/support by outsourcing to VARS, and relocating R&D to outside of the U.S. to less expensive jurisdictions. The company will continue to invest and strengthen its product portfolio for optimum schematic capture; co-simulation of analog and digital circuits using SPICE, VHDL and Verilog; RF design; PCB layout and routing; and CAM verification. The company's professional PCB design portfolio is available for approximately $4,000 to $10,000 (U.S.)--by far, the best price/performance in the industry.

According to Ian Suttie, vice president of sales and marketing for Electronics Workbench, "Many suppliers have decreased their R&D efforts and focus on the mid-tier market space leaving a lot of engineers and designers with stagnant, weak tools and little future development. Electronics Workbench is stepping up to assure designers that it is firmly committed to supporting them, now and in the future. During the past few years, the company has completely rewritten its code. This was a huge undertaking, but it demonstrates our serious ongoing commitment to the mainstream, desktop market. Only Electronics Workbench has been dramatically enhancing its products with new features, power and functionality. I am confidant users will welcome the long-term stability Electronics Workbench provides for mainstream PCB design."

In the next several months, Electronics Workbench will roll out new products and next generation versions of its popular Multisim, Ultiboard and Ultiroute PCB design products. Professional circuit designers can expect these products to be highly integrated, packed with innovation and a unified graphical user interface for better productivity and ease-of-use. They will be available as stand alone tools, or in tightly integrated suites.
