Alternative Manufacturing, Inc. Earns Certification as Qualified Manufacturer to IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610

May 06, 2015

IPC's Validation Services Program has awarded an IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Qualified Manufacturers Listing (QML) to Alternative Manufacturing, Inc. (AMI), an electronics contract manufacturing company based out of Winthrop, Maine. AMI provides PCB assembly, wire harness production, and product assembly for a variety of industries. To earn the QML, AMI successfully completed an intensive audit based on two of IPC's foremost standards: IPC J-STD-001, Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies and IPC-A-610, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.

AMI met or exceeded the electronics industry’s Class 2 testing requirements for dedicated service electronic products. As a result, the company is now listed as an IPC trusted source capable of manufacturing in accordance with industry best practices. AMI and other trusted sources of suppliers can be found on IPC's QML/QPL (Qualified Product Listing) database at www.ipcvalidation.org.

AMI is very proud of achieving IPC validation to J-STD-001. For years, IPC standards have been AMI’s guidelines for workmanship quality,” said Kim Vandermeulen, CEO of AMI. “With this third-party validation, we can convincingly convey to AMI’s customers that the processes and workmanship employed are meeting or exceeding industry standards.  AMI is pleased to achieve this milestone and establish itself on the leading edge among EMS providers in this way.”

IPC's Validations Services QPL/QML Program was developed to promote supply chain verification. It also provides auditing and certification of electronics companies' products, and identifies processes which conform to IPC standards.

"AMI has differentiated itself from the competition by becoming part of IPC's global network of trusted industry sources," said Randy Cherry, IPC director of Validation Services. "We are pleased to recognize AMI as the newest member of trusted QML suppliers."
