The ProLINE-RoadRunner™ is a high-speed automated inline programming feeder that mounts directly onto an SMT machine without consuming any additional floor space or altering the production line. By removing unprogrammed flash memory devices from tape, the ProLINE-RoadRunner programs four devices in parallel, delivering the programmed parts to the pick-up point of the placement machine.
The ProLINE-RoadRunner is a just-in-time (JIT) inline programming system featuring the FlashCORE III, the world's fastest flash programming architecture available on the market today for programming high-density flash memories such as e.MMC, SD and NAND flash. FlashCORE III is the highest-quality proven solution for programming Microcontrollers, EPROM, EEPROM, NOR Flash and many others.
Data I/O has successfully installed hundreds of RoadRunners for companies wishing to apply lean manufacturing to the programming process. By implementing the JIT programming provided by the RoadRunner, customers are able to eliminate inventory of pre-programmed devices, dramatically reduce inventory carrying and rework costs, and recognize a rapid ROI in only a matter of months.
“Since its introduction more than 10 years ago, the ProLINE-RoadRunner™ has enabled the world’s leading manufacturers of electronics products to streamline their programming process, literally saving millions of dollars while simultaneously increasing the velocity of their production process. The ProLINE-RoadRunner™ is a unique inline programming process that provides a combination of benefits that offline programming and ISP/ICT solutions simply cannot match,” said Carl Olson, Director of Engineering at Data I/O.
The ProLINE-RoadRunner™ can be operated both locally and through a network interface. Design changes can be made as needed and downloaded directly to the RoadRunner’s own IP address. The ProLINE-RoadRunner™ also provides PC Card Support for data and job transfer on Windows 95/98, Windows NT/2000, and Windows-XP. Built-in diagnostics and job statistics are written to the RoadRunner’s PC card and the statistics are saved back to TaskLink, allowing the user to analyze production yields and throughput.
“Support of the Panasonic NPM reflects our decade-long commitment in the continuous investment to the ProLINE-RoadRunner™ Inline programming system. These investments provide leading-edge programming performance that seamlessly integrates into the latest surface mount technology,” said Carl Olson.
The Panasonic NPM (Next Production Modular) provides a completely integrated single-platform solution for expanding and evolving electronics assembly needs. In addition to its interchangeable plug-and-play placement heads, the NPM platform integrates solder paste inspection (SPI), adhesive dispense (ADH) and post-placement inspection (AOI).
The ProLINE-RoadRunner™ is supported on Siemens, Fuji, Panasonic, MYDATA, Assembléon and Universal SMT machines.
