SMTA and CALCE are pleased to announce that the program for the Counterfeit Electronic Parts and Electronic Supply Chain Symposium is finalized and available on-line at www.smta.org/counterfeit and registration is open. The event will take place June 25 - 27, 2013 in College Park, MD.
The program includes eight sessions over two days with presentations from Applied DNA Sciences, China’s CEPREI Laboratory, Creative Electron, EMC, GDCA, InfraTrac, Innovative Technologies Inc., Integra Technologies, Lewis, Nakomis, Nisene, iNEMI, Qualmark, Silicon Expert, TTI, University of Connecticut, and more.
Tuesday sessions will open with Chair Professor and CALCE Director Michael Pecht sharing his knowledge and experience on the global electronics industry and how that creates the market for counterfeit electronics with the audience.
Session topics for Tuesday and Wednesday include Supply Chain Management, Risks to the Supply Chain, New Technologies, DNA Marking, Obsolescence Management & Regulatory Landscape, Technologies, and Upcoming Standards.
On Wednesday, an experienced panel will discuss the impact of adoption of SAE 6171 test laboratory standard for counterfeit detection. The panel will include laboratory specialists, equipment manufacturers, OEMs and distributors. A session will be devoted to various authentication tools including biological, ceramic, and polymer variety.
The final day, Thursday, June 27, will feature workshops led by faculty from CALCE/University of Maryland, Integra Technologies LLC, and RMV Technology Group, LLC. The workshops will cover Counterfeit Part Avoidance and Detection, Electrical Testing for Counterfeit Detection, and Suspect Counterfeit Materials, Electronic Components & ESD Shipping Packaging Issues in the Global Supply Chain.
The conference is organized by SMTA in conjunction with the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE) at the University of Maryland. This symposium will provide a forum to cover all aspects of changes in the electronic parts supply chain on how an organization performs part selection and management through the whole life cycle of the parts. The information discussed at the event will be valuable to supply chain managers, component engineers, brand protection specialists, marketing and procurement policy makers, contracts management, security specialists and other interested engineers.
