Although the companies did not provide additional information, the agreement announced today is seen as part of HP's efforts to streamline its production and take advantage of the cost benefits offered by contract manufacturers.
The PCB and other products to be produced by the EMS provider are destined for HP's mid- and high-end enterprise servers and other end-equipment, Solectron said in a statement.
The agreement expands a previous contractual relationship between the two companies, according to Craig London, president of Solectron's technology solutions unit.
