Anadigm's free software suite for configuring AN10E40 FPAAs � AnadigmDesigner � with its analog IPmodule library and simulator, holds the key to the versatility of this new programmable analog technology as it allows inexperienced users to build systems without needing to know the underlying circuit techniques. Unlike conventional analog design, minimal circuit knowledge, skills with analog simulators, or math abilities (to work out the transfer function) are required. Moreover, no bread-boarding is needed to build a trial circuit. Instead, users can simply build analog circuits using IPmodule building blocks, which are configurable to provide the particular characteristics needed. In the case of a biquad filter for example, all a user specifies is cut-off frequency, pass band gain, and quality factor. AnadigmDesigner offers around 50 parameterizable IPmodules in its library. The �design� process can be measured in minutes, allowing complete analog systems to be built rapidly, simulated immediately, and then downloaded to the chip for instant verification using standard bench equipment.
