Nordson ASYMTEK’s Fids-on-the-Fly™ option is up to 5.5X faster than the traditional stop-and-capture mode for locating fiducials.
Reducing time spent performing this essential, non-dispense routine can increase UPH as much as 35 percent. Fiducials are used to identify the location of parts prior to dispensing and can compensate for skew on individual parts within a workpiece. Fiducial marks can be models (usually letters, dots, or silk-screened marks) or corners of a die or part.
In stop-and-capture mode, the camera pauses to locate each fiducial. With Nordson ASYMTEK’s Fids-on-the-Fly™ option, the camera is always in motion, capturing images on the fly. With high-speed capture the more fiducials required, the greater the time savings. Fids-on-the-Fly™ is ideal for applications with over 8 fiducials and up to 2800 (1400 per lane for dual lane applications).
How It Works
Nordson ASYMTEK’s Fluidmove™ software calculates a spline travel path based on the programmed fiducial locations in the dispense program. Once the path for all fiducials is calculated, image-capture is performed at maximum acceleration and velocity without stopping. Fids-on-the-Fly™ uses a high-speed digital camera that operates at 60 frames per second. High-intensity on-axis LED lighting with adjustable red, green and blue (RGB) light levels enable reliable fiducial capture for even the most difficult applications.
