Component Engineer

Viking Components, one of the world's largest and fastest-growing manufacturers of component technology, designs and manufactures computer memory, modems and flash memory products for the retail, reseller and OEM markets has an immediate opening for the following: Ability to identify a component and obtain the specification and data sheets supporting components for designs. Assign and request part numbers to be added to the QAD MFG/Pro system. Control the general part numbering system for components. Create and maintain the digital component library including IBIS models and other simulation models as required by Engineering. Give input / recommendations to purchasing department on new components. Create an AVL of existing manufacturers for purchasing to have source selection. Identify component substitutions. Meet with vendors to identify any new or improved parts that we could purchase. Review PCNs received by the component manufactures and prepare internal changes. Generate prototype bill of material for all new designs. Assist documentation in updating BOM blocks by providing part numbers. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum 3 years experience as Component Engineer in computer / electronic manufacturing industry with good knowledge in all electronic and electrical components including memory, logic, linear, passive, and active devices. Basic knowledge in Electro mechanical components and connector interface is helpful. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS BS degree in Electronic / Computer Engineering is preferred.
