  About the Presenter: 

Michael Carano, HDPUG is currently a consultant to IPC as a Subject Matter Expert and as a Research Associate for IPC Market Intelligence. He is also a facilitator for HDP User Group International, an Industry Consortium. Carano has held various positions through-out his career including R&D, Technology Transfer, Sales/Marketing, and International Business Strategy.

Carano has published over 190 technical articles and is the holder of nine U.S. and 22 foreign patents. Carano has B.S. chemistry and an MBA in marketing & Business Strategy. His interests include printed circuit board technology, semiconductor and advanced packaging, medical device coatings and corrosion protection.

He is considered a subject matter expert in surface finishing, process control and in the area of high reliability, mission critical technologies.

An active member in IPC since 1992, Carano serves on several other committees. He previously served as a member of the IPC Board of Directors for 14 years. Carano is a strong supporter of technical education and training and has developed seven separate professional development courses for IPC and its members.

Mike is currently the co-chairman of the IPC Technology Roadmap Executive Committee and Chairs the IPC Process Effects committee and IPC Technology Solutions committee.

Mike was elected into the IPC Hall of Fame in 2014.  And in 2020, received the Dieter Bergman Fellowship Award. And most recently he received the ANSI Finegan Medal for his promotion of standards globally for the electronics industry.
