ENIG Thickness

We are moving into fine pitch components. 64 pin QFPs and the like. We've chosen an ENIG pcb finish to help with flatness of the pads, but the pcb vendor has asked for a thickness specification. Can anyone provide a recommendation? It seems like a thicker ENIG would allow the stencil to seal better to it. Thanks John S.

I would be afraid of this board supplier, ENIG is self limiting.

Tell your fab that you'd like your ENIG according to IPC-4552.

Just so that you know, IPC-4552 ENIG specification: * Ni thickness: 3 - 6 microns [120 - 240 microinches]. * Au thickness: 0.075 - 0.125 microns [3 - 5 microinches]. * Recommended specification is 2 microinches minimum at -4 sigma from the mean for the gold with 3-5 being typical.
