Many parts falls around the tape cutter no mather the size or type. Also many times the machine misses some picks. But when doing a placement test with a single dummy part, 99% good.

Checked the condition of your nozzles? Vacuum ok? Dummy part picked from the same feeder position? Dummy part picked from the very same feeder? How often does this problem occur? How many dummys did you pick for comparison?

Sometimes a feeder calibration is needed, by using a calibration jig. Make sure that it is No small chip components in the feeder bank; that could be the cause of the feeder not to be inserted properly. Important for small chip pick-up.

So you ask a question about a problem that you are having, someone takes the time to reply to your post. And your reply is "me no dummy?"

We are all using this forum to get/give help or advice. This is not a teen chatroom.

In your PDs you must specify a single nozzle size. Meaning don't assume that entering nozzle size max=1.3 and nozzle size min=1.3 forces the machine to use a 1.3. Nozzle size min is not used in the CP6 software (it only uses nozzle size max), therefore, any nozzle 1.3 OR LESS can be used by the machine. The machine will not physically change the nozzle size if any nozzle equal to or smaller than nozzle max is selected. For instance a 1206(3216) with a min and max of 1.3, will be picked with a 1.0 if that nozzle happens to be selected at the time. This may be why your test program runs well, one nozzle size with one feeder, no other PDs with different mins and maxs.

Always use "NOZZLE SIZE CP6", OR "NOZZLE NAME" to force the machine to use a specific size nozzle.

Good point [engguy], and another thing; if you are using 1.3mm nozzle on a feeder that has a shutter opening of 1.0mm = problem. You could even damage the nozzle. So the main questions remain....

Good advises thanks. I'll go thru all nozzles and vacuum check today and tell the programer about PD's and nozzle vs shutter. Should I check at the same time all the vacuum filter ? For the placement test, we use the same feeder at the same position. Are we right? Any advise about feeder maintenance and calibration ?

Hi Alex,

I've seen 2 types of feeder test rigs for sale that cover CP6 feeders, one from Alternative - http://www.alternativesmt.co.uk and one called a GAM20 - I think it was ABtech Europe - http://www.abtech-europe.com. The GAM20 was about half the price, but the alternative one could do multiple machines if you bought the add on's.

Hope that helps,

Rob.
