Can anyone tell me where to find SMT component tape dimension standards. Specifically 8mm paper tape standards.

...is the distributor for EIA standards. It'll cost you about 50 bucks. The standard is EIA-481-B and covers 8mm-200mm embossed tape and 8mm and 12mm punched tape. I tried searching for this standard on this site but the search function is not very robust. Anyway there is technical assistance on this site that will be glad to help.

For a general rough rule of thumb I use Practical Components for programming our machines. Practical has a nice layout of most Tape and Reel components and sizes. We use this mostly for tape/ feeder allocation.

But for QC, Specs, and Other Stuff we use EIA 481-B (It can be downloaded from http://www.chipro.com/specific.htm ).
