Rheometric Pump Vs Proflow | 25 March, 2003

We are in the process of deciding which stencil printer will we acquire for our line and would like to identify which will provide us more benefit when it comes to enclosed print head. Can anyone give me some comparisons and problems or troubles that they encountered between the two heads?

I work for a company that uses both print heads, from all of the testing i've seen and participated in both seem to work well when you have a compatible paste. Focus more on the features you want on the printer, applications support and focus primarily on paste testing with whatever system you choose.

Rheometric Pump Vs Proflow | 27 March, 2003

We've evaluated the Rheopump. Problems we've found are 1) cycle time differences between forward and backward print (evidently the pump charges pressure on one and not the other), 2) excessive amounts of paste left in the tubes (roughly 60 grams we can't get out).

Have you noticed with 3D scan technology a flatter and more filled top with the Rheometric when printing the smallest of aperatures. The Applications guys from the 3D companies told me they did see flatter tops. Granted this has to come also with better stencils. YET I was wondering your experience.

Yes, I come from a land down under...currently participating in an unnecessary war in IRAQ!

But what about paste replenishment on both heads? Wastage? Damage to stencil problems if any? Maintenance? etc...

Well at least we agree on the UnJust Blood for Bush/Blair Valor War. Hey even the Falklands was a more-just engagement. Now those battles with those Aborigines that strive to Kill each other at spear point is a more INTERESTING combinational question.

And I do agree that thus far I haven't seen enough experience posted to know squat. If the Rheometric does give flatter tops for small features which is what I have been told by many, then wastage of paste should come with this advantage. If you don't have small features then perhaps the trade off changes.

We found that the Pro-flow cartridges had paste in them we couldn't get out, that seemed more wasteful than the Rheo-pump. We ran both and I agree with the previous posting, that comfort level with the machine 2D, software etc. were more important. We rarely ran smaller than 0603 (mostly 1206) so I'm not sure if or why the Rheo would give "flatter tops", never noticed anyway.
