Universal Genesis 2 dual beam damaged by packers, worth fixing? | 7 September, 2023

I bought a gx37 dual beam series 2 Genesis. It looks like it was in very good condition when it left Malaysia but the axis weren't secured at all for the sea journey. When it arrived the rubber stoppers had all been smashed. The z axis on both heads fails to zero when I've turned it on. Will the most likely be fixable at a sensible price or should I give up on it?

UIC still support the Genesis platform, get a quote for repair which will be high & try to push it back onto whomever is at fault.

I heard a similar story from a colleague on these machines. Same thing- head and beam not secured for transit and banged around whole trip. I think the beam ended up bent in that case and the machine could never be calibrated or repaired. Don't know what you paid but hopefully you can get it back, otherwise it may just be a part out machine for what has not been damaged. They make great welding tables though once you strip them down!

I've seen these machines flip over and left outside for weeks in the rain, heat, moisture and still work. Doesn't hurt to take clean it up just view the sensors.
