We are looking for an inline x-ray machine that to put after AOI in our line. We have contacted with some suppliers, but onli reliable one looks like Viscom right now. Do any of you guys ever use this kind of inline machine? What are pros and cons?

Hi there. I did work with Viscom AOI/AXi combo models for nearly 5 years, ones like X7056. It is fairly easy to understand programming if you have proper training from them - read more about black and white image processing in case you would like to buy. Pros: stable software for older models; reliable if maintained regularly; program ready in minutes if you have a decent pattern library; barcode and traceability ready; can be linked with SPI for statistical process control; good and fairly quick service coverage in Europe (my location). Cons: fairly expensive; if there is no decent understanding of how patterns work, you may have lots of false calls - do a lot of training; new models = lots of bugs, so get an older model for peace of mind (like the one I mentioned). Feel free to ask any other more specific questions - currently this is what comes to my mind if I think about Viscom machines. It was more than 5 years ago I have worked with them, but I was quite happy with them at the time. Regards, Tom.
