JaNets - question about smt files for machines | 9 February, 2023

Hello,

When I build an smt program for the line, I'm getting .iss as a main program, which is divided into .i01 and .i02 to load up in the machines, and on the machine itself,it asks to re-save it as a machine format, in my case its .s01x (for both machines, same ending - I have two RS-1R machines in line).

What I'm getting is 3 different ending for the same program - .iss, .i01/.i02 and .s01x , right ? Which files to I need to keep to re-run the smt assembly program later? While it splits to .i01 and .i02 - can I rename it straight to .s01x ?

It sounds different in my head. Cant really write it, but I hope you guys get the point.

It depends on how you plan on loading the programs the next time. I used to always send the programs to the machines from the main IS program, but if you just want to load programs from the machine (assuming your programs don't require updates) then you could just save them directly on the machines and load from there.

I used to work on Siemens ASM machines, with server that had a program called Siplace Pro, which was connected to lines, and from line computer they could load the program to the machines in the line, and I could do updates "online" if needed, before the operator whos loading the program to the macines on the line. I though Juki had a similar system, but so far, we used usb sticks to transfer the programs, and lately, we made a "shared folder" from both machines to my server, so when I create a program,I save it on the machines right away. Too bad that Juki does not have a similar system that Siemens got...

Juki should have a system like that. Pretty sure it's a part of the IS suite of software, but it's been 6+ years since I've dealt with Juki.

Well, I checked everything, also spoke with chinese guys, they just make a 1 side program, move it to the machine by usb or on the network, and just run it. They are light years away from Siemens Siplace Pro.

Then you must be missing a piece of the software suite because I was able to keep and maintain "master" programs on the IS server and then create "job" programs each time they ran a job and those were sent to the machines from a central line control PC.

what are the chances that you remember the name of the program?

I actually still have all my docs and software from that time. Just dug through some manuals and found one for "IS - Intelli PD" (program download).

Couldn't tell you if this is still what it's called, but this is what we used to send programs to the line.

Interesting.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but isn't that the answer to your question? You have the program to do what you want, it just doesn't work? Have you contacted Juki to work through the issue?

Seems like an easy fix.

Have you tried calling? What area of the world are you in? Why not call tech support for your geographical area?

I am from Israel. We have some chinese guys in our second facility in china, who is working slower than us with a decade old methods (transfering files over usb to the machines from an offline computer). And the only support that we have here is only for a technician for mechanical issues, which I didnt had at all for past year or so.
