PCB v-score depaneling question | 28 November, 2017

Hello all,

I am about to design a panel and there are two connectors on the board that seem to be very close to the edge of the board. I am worried that they might interfere with the cutter blade. Can you tell me how close do you think a part should be to the edge, to be safe? We use Maestro 4. Datasheet doesn't say anything about a parameter like that.

For connectors, we maintain a 0.05" clearance from components edge to the center of the V-groove score

I represent Fancort Industries. We provide "pizza cutter" and horizontal opposing blade "guillotine" style v-score depanel equipment. The edge clearance requirements are 0.030" - 0.050" for the wheel cutter and down to 0.020" for the opposing blade equipment. The distance is from the score line to the components. To keep stress below the opposing blade you're looking at a router. You can search Fancort Industries for product info and your local contact. Good luck with your project.
