Controlling age sensitive materials on the floor

We are required by AS9100 to keep expired material/chemicals off the floor. Examples include solder paste, flux, adhesives, conformal coating, etc. We have a system in place to prevent such occurrences but once in a while something is not accounted for and our auditors issue a finding. We need a better track record for AS9100.

Can anyone recommend a procedure or system that makes it virtually impossible to let material/chemicals expire on the floor? Please send ideas. Thank you!

You might try something simple like the appointment scheduler built into Micrsoft Outlook. Set an appointment to review your material status based on the lead time, say 1 month before expiration. Review supply and demand and order accordingly. Set another appoint to remove the material from your stock on the expiration date. Invite everyone on your program team and QA group. It's not perfect, but can suffice if all are on board and understand how you are using the tool.
