New facility flooring choices TILE, EPOXY, rubber tile, sheet, carpet | 29 April, 2014

Hi All,

We will be building out a new production area and am looking for your opinion on what flooring system to install. We currently use ESD VCT tile that was installed about 16 years ago.

The area will be SMT equipment as well as some assembly area about 25K s.f. total. Bright white everything tends to be the preference.

TILE, EPOXY, rubber tile, sheet, carpet? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Our facility is 5 years in the current configuration.

We are in 75K sq/ft and went with glued down fully conductive tile throughout the factory. Looks great after 5 years, and we have a lot of traffic.

In this setup, those same high traffic areas can be maintained on a tile by tile basis as the need arises.

Static dissipative carpet in the Management and Program areas closes the loop for us.

I think the key feature of the flooring we chose is that it remains very clean looking, even after years of traffic and machinery going in and out of the building.

So, IMHO, Fully Conductive Flooring/Tiles for your new area.
