Does anyone have some experience with AIS3500 on GSM1? It stopped to function just like that. I've opened it to check the batteries and I can see 4 status LED's blinking in a constant pattern, but I can't get any response over seial line from it...

You may have lost the vision software.

Here are my notes on reloading.

You may want to replace the batteries while your at it.

Boot in diagnostic mode by setting switch located on the rear of the controller to "Diagnostic Mode" then cycle power. At terminal prompt, enter P for probe (Diagnostic mode. After the pRobe3.0> prompt appears hit enter, another prompt should appear. Now set Diagnostic/Run switch to run, start vision system software load. The vision software can not load if the system is in running arbitrary code and hung in a loop so halting the controller in pRoberx.x> mode is needed to ensure the machine controller can talk to the vision box and load the vision system software into the AIS3500EX system.

Sorry for not clearing that out - it's not the problem of lost vision sw. - I even can't connect to it in diag. mode. Must be some hardware issue. I've checked video outputs with the scope and instead of constant freqency ~15kHz, it drifts up and down in seemingly random pattern. Serial lines dead... Does anyone know a company that can fix it?

Check with Unidec. http://www.unidec.com/

We used to get many Universal boards repaired by them.

This procedure is from UIC's knowledge base. TO run Diagnostics on AISI 3500 vision. Use of this procedure will require reloading of vision executive once complete. 1. verify PC1 COMM2 is connected to COMM2 on the RADISYS board in slot 1 of VME chassis. 2. with the AISI 3500 vision unit outside the machine verify all cables are connected. 3. Push (Ctrl+Ecs) then select Logicomm from tasklist. 4. turn off power to AISI 3500 unit (power switch on back of unit). 5. set run/diag switch to diag position. 6. turn power to AISI 3500 unit back on, then diagnostic banner will display on GSM monitor. The banner will report something like the following: bank 1: 2mb RAM 3 wait states bank 2: not installed 3 wait states. In the example above this machine has 2mb of memory, this is required for ups 1.4 or higher software. The last test displayed is a battery test. The results will be either battery ok or battery low. If the test reports a battery low condition either new batteries need to be installed (p/n.45834501) or the whole unit replaced. 7. push (R) then (Enter) on GSM keyboard to start the diagnostics tests. Look for any abnormalities or failures. 8. after a few breath patterns have been run hit (ESC) to cancel diag. tests. This will take you back to menu options. 9. after test is complete ,power down machine. 10. toggle Run/Diag. switch back to run. 11. power up machine. 12. install AISI 3500 vision unit and reload the vision executive.

That would do if AIS3500 is working in the first place. As explained above, it does not operate correctly. Dead serial lines, jittery video output signals, internal 4 status LED's blinking in a repeating pattern (changing colours at the same time)...

I have had problems corrected by swapping or replacing the power supplies in the box. Do you have a second GSM that runs the AIS3500 box? If so swap the power supply and see if the problem follows the swap. I have replaced the supplies inside the inner power supply box with units purchased from (i belive) mouser, with some success. You should be able to google the power supply part numbers, there are two in there. gc
