Patrick, are you not from Britain yourself, Chap? I've always thought you were Pro-RoHS!

I plan to sign the petition.

Hi Samir,

I lived and worked in Europe for 38 years, so yes I paid my dues and live in the great US since. The question is not where someone is from as to the fact that the RoHS doesn't make sense and need to be stopped before people get hurt.

"I've always thought you were Pro-RoHS!" very funny Samir.

Thanks for the support but didn't see your name yet!!

Hi,

I think it's easy to be pro RoHS because you have to accept it, and implement it, however it's still nice to complain. I am going to sign!

Hey Rob don't give up yet let your voice be heard, the fat lady didn't sing yet!!

Grant, you wrote "I think it's easy to be pro RoHS because you have to accept it, and implement it, however it's still nice to complain."

You don't have to accept anything, certainly not if alternatives to lead in solders are: A) Not proven reliable B) Quality standards are non existing or questionable C) The higher price paid produces no return D) US EPA report states that lead in solders has no negative impact on the environment E) Hi Rel is exempt from the RoHS directive F) Lead free alloys in combination with higher energy requirements will cause more harm to the environment.

Complaining never helps we need to bring facts to the table and the EU commission has said that only environmental facts would be considered in order to grant exemptions, well they are available.

Samir, I need to make a correction to my initial post. I would be for RoHS if the replacement products were proven reliable and better for the environment. Lead-free clearly isn't.

I am personally very disappointed in IPC pushing this political envelope also in my competitors taking advantage of this chaos and go for the economic benefits. Our customer base is still 100% leaded true education as a service. It's not always an easy decision to be a follower or a leader the latter is hard work.

Thank you so much to all of you who signed the petition.

Pat, I saw your name on the list twice. What is that all about? If a petition is to be taken seriously, and legitimately, we can't stack it with multiple and/or fake signatures.

Your observation is correct; I will have the first signature removed. (I wasn't happy with the comment) Please guys don't let one mistake take away from the credibility and the need for this petition. The health of our industry depends on this.

I apologize and this WILL be corrected. Patrick

I just found out that no changes can be made to the petition by anyone because of the audit requirements. When time comes to do the adding up duplicates will be removed before submission.
