SMART Group, Europe’s largest technical trade association focusing on surface mount and related technologies, announces that it has created a colour “Conformal Coating & Cleaning Defect Guide”. The guide is being produced to coincide with the free three-day Hands-on Conformal Coating & Cleaning Experience, which is taking place on 8-10 April at NEC, Birmingham.
The colour guide provides examples of the most common process defects and common cures. It features many of the common and less obvious defects seen during production. The guide features defects associated with components, printed circuit boards, design, materials, assembly and rework. Additionally, it includes some of the issues that may be seen on field returns.
First produced in 2007 and updated in 2008, SMART Group’s “Lead-Free Defect Guide” has been circulated worldwide with more than 1000 free downloads.
