MYDATA - how to forse parts on Hydra head | 15 December, 2016

Hello experts. Can anyone tell me how to force part to go to Hydra heads on MYDATA machines? I have MY200DX. Especially interested in Electrolytic caps placement.

Depends on the size of the elec cap and the nozzle set you have. But if you can pick it up, the wrinkle on the top of the cap can be a PIA. All you need to do is make sure the cap is being taken over the line-scan/hydra camera to center only (no mech centering at all)then have no single mount tools selected for use, only the correct hydra tool selected in the component library. Then it should only place with hydra, if its a larger cap all 8 may not be in use at the same time, but its better then 1 at a time.

llllGodly,

I did try before, but it wouldn't pick it - it will automatically select a tool for the single head. Do you think it has something to do with the fact that IO used ODD SHAPE recognition?

I am assuming that these are the round aluminum electrolytic caps. The problem may be that they are too wide to put on 2 hydra heads next to each other. Plus the hydra heads are not that great at placing tall parts. I would not let the hydra place these just based on dropping any of these parts would cause bigger problems. I use the main head and the hold in place till ready option just to avoid these problems

Bruce,

I have different size electrolytic caps. Most of them should be no issue to pick 8 at a time(5-6mm) Can't I decrease the speed of the head when placing these parts? I would love to place slow motion 8 parts at a time than going 8 times with the Midus head.

Go to the Edit > Package screen and select the package you have programmed for the capacitor. Next press F3 to edit accelerations. In the popup screen set the X and both Hydras to low or lowest. That should accomplish the slow motion you are after.

Thanks, I will try that and we will see how it goes. Do you know what is the limit for component Height for Hydra heads?

I do not know the limit for component height on Hydra.

If you haven't resolved this yet, I think you're going to want to go to either the part or the package (I'm not sure which one off hand), and make sure that the hydra heads/tools are selected for placement.

You'll also want the vision set to the linescan camera in the package centering.

I had my 200dx placing 4mm electrolytics with minimal issues. Can't remember which hydra tool we were using. If you've got the offline station set up, you can see a visual representation of the different tools over the outline of the package.

Pretty sure you can use the odd-form with the line-scan camera. Teach it out with the standard camera, and then test it with the line-scan to be sure.

Cheers, ..rob
