Could you please specify exact model number for Siemens?

Panasonic is famous for quite high field proven stability. Vacuum pumps for placement heads instead of ejectors is standard option for Panasonic, for instance.

I would choose them. Anyway, placement machine selections has to be driven by your product range.

Not sure how they look in price, but ASM SX series is the real deal. Best software I've ever seen, as well as very descent machine and feeder quality.E-series looks like they don't use their latest concepts.

How do you answer that question? You probably won't find anyone who has worked with both which leaves them comparing datasheets just like you presumably already have. http://www.e-by-siplace.com/28657/E-Performance/Overview/e_series_stage.aspx?slide=performance#home/2 This page shows there are several models with different restrictions in the E-Series, to get a fast flexible line you would need to combine at least 2 of them. The Panasonic on the other hand appears to be quite flexible with just a single machine (which or may not be important but could certainly help with creating a balanced line). I would also be looking at K&S (Asssembleon), Hanwah Techwin(Samsung),Yahama/IPulse and possibly Juki or Mirae to get a real feel for what you can get for your money.

I will second the comments of SpoiledByChoice. Not enough info about your intended use to make an informed recommendation...so considering that, IMO/IME, both companies make excellent machines and have great offline software. The AIM100 & E-Series are the latest attempts to penetrate down-market to low-medium volume users. Blindfolded and gun to my head? The AIM100 easily. Has been around longer and is mature. Much less risk. But as SBC said, there are others out there who specialize in that market. Yamaha has been at the top for many years (I work for Trans-Tec). Nevertheless, my SMT experiences go back to 1990 and I know the P&P landscapre very well.

It is very important to know what are you going to use them for. Selecting such machine is a very difficult process. I have seen both machines, worked on one of them. For me Panasonic is years behind ASM, but I don't want to give you my opinion, you have to evaluate them both. Fuji is another major player, you maybe should look at, depending on your production.
