Universal GSM1 startup error

Universal GSM1 startup error | 4 August, 2015

OS/2 UIC version 3.2.3

Powerup seems to go OK until, while the GUI says ...initializing..., an error popup appears saying "Did not receive request to load machine model within timeout period. Possible machine error condition exists. Do you want to continue waiting?" If I click Yes, the status changes to "Waiting to load machine model," and eventually the popup appears again.

What component requests the machine model?

Noticed during the pre-GUI startup it said VME loader 1877584 bytes, remaining time :26 sleep 20 Were there supposed to be progress messages before the sleep?

It could be a blown fuse on the power distribution panel or a failed power supply. Check the power distribution board in the front lower center of the machine. There are 11 LEDs on the board and 10 should be ON

The power distribution board has 10 green LEDs on. By the time of the error SysFail is still on. Logicomm connected to the Force board COMM2 shows a stream of messages saying "Lantern system not active. Heart Beat = 0"

It would be helpful to know what happened before the error occurred. Do you have another machine so that you can swap some boards? The Force CPU, (machine controller) located in the VME, is responsible for controlling all machine-related activities. During initialization, the Force CPU must load up with a machine control program and then check if all it's slave processors are ready to work. (Motion control boards, Vision processor and MMit I/O boards) Then it downloads information from the hard disk to itself, its global memory and the slave processors with machine data, such as servo curves, calibration model files and I/O addresses. If any of these processes fail, Initialization never completes.

Before the error it was shut off for at least two weeks. When turned on again the error appeared. We have software un-mounted everything in System Setup->Machine->Config and set all their addresses to 0. We have swapped the EPC5, the VGA Video, the Force board, and most recently the Lantern 630VME. Watching the Force board COMM2 with Logicomm, at the end of all the ldx file processing it changes to continuous messages saying, "Lantern system not active. Heart Beat = 0."

I think the heart beat message comes up if the vision had not initialized. You have changed that already stop I think it is something else. Have you some money a Restore of the Machine Configuration and Mapping and Calibration Data?

We tried restoring the Machine Configuration, Mapping, and Calibration data from after the calibration done last year. The error was still present after the restore and restart.

Sorry for all the typos in the last message. As the machine was powered OFF for two weeks I would have expected a battery problem. Can you capture a Logicimm file and see what the file says before the heart beat messages?

Here's the end of Logicomm capture on Force COMM2 where it starts the Lantern system not active messages. Couldn't get attach to work.

With the address of FC107F24 I would look at the Slot 11 UIMC board. Try swapping with another Radisys Board. Check jumpers, changing one jumper only on each board.

Thanks NRS, yes UIMC by mistake was in incorrect slot (11) once we moved it to slot 12 it works, thanks again.

if you are facing a problem to send the data to your machine then you must check the driver part of your machine if you are sending it through any software. Also check the power status of the machine. You can also go for one simple method by doing Reset all the related devices.
