Anyone have any idea how to use the HLC software and in particular the Production Planning side whereby you can cluster a number of sides or Jobs? I want to fix side 1 of a program and optimise side 2 around side 1 fixing common parts and then filling the gaps with the remaining parts therefore giving a common setup for both sides meaning 1 setup for both side?

HLC offers a new dimension for testing capabilities. HLC comprises software for data acquisition, test control, archiving and report generation functions which make the process fast, efficient and trusted.

The performance of HLC software is heavily depends on actuators and PCB design

If my memory is correct....

You need to add program for top and bottom into the production planner tool , Ie 100 x Top, next job 100 x Bottom

Then can run a cluster line balance

Then can export out HLC/Machine Split files...

Have a play with Production planner program....

Have you figured how to use the cluster option?

I have figured it out from a basic optimising point of view, still struggling with some aspects of the software. Is there a way of fixing the setup as it is so we can just produce a setup sheet to reflect the program in the machine?

In the program editor on the machine, you can output a text file of the production data. You can select to output placement data, component data, and/or feeder setup for the product currently loaded on the machine. You can also do the same in the HLC Program Editor. None of my machines are connected to the HLC, I just use HLC to set up new products or optimize existing products. If you would like me to, I can create a basic step by step guide to using the multi-optimize w/ cluster option.

What machine models do you have?

Gary, we use the text output file from production planning to produce common setup sheets. We wondered if we just moved 1 feeder on the machine is there a way we could combine the programs back together and fix their positions so that when we optimise again the setup stays as it was previously apart from the one change.

If you have feeders that you want to always stay on the same machine/position, enter them in the permanent data for the machine in the MSL setup. That is a simple way to reserve locations. Also, the optimization can use any common parts set in permanent data for other products. Another way is to manually assign machine and feeder locations in the Program Editor, then choose "manual station/position assignments" in the optimization options. Hope this helps.

Clustering in HLC is processed in production planner module First have to create programs single ones. Then create a production list of qty of each up to 30 max i think is limit from memory....

The production planner module then tries to fit all programs onto the machines defined in MSL setup

Fixed feeders need setting in MSL

Thanks Gary, I have found that you could fix them in program editor and then use the manual assign option, the only problem then is that you cannot output a text file for the common program, the option is greyed out.

We are using Juki Fx2. Is the cluster programming is possible?

Leeg,

A simple cluster is pretty easy to do. Each side needs to be optimized individually first. Then, follow these steps...

1) Load Production Planning

2) Click File/New

3) Right click on line 001 under the Program name column

4) Click Reserve

5) Choose your first side

6) Right click on line 002 under the Program name column 7) Click Reserve

8) Choose the second side

9) Click Optimization/Mulit-Optimize

10) Choose Fix all feeder positions within a cluster

11) Click OK

12) Click Optimization/Optimization

13) Make sure pick data is set to Auto

14) Click Run

15) Click Ok

16) Name the output file. This will be the name of the cluster that you can print. I normally just leave the default name then print the operators individual setup sheets from the editor. You will see that the feeders are in common slots.

17) If the cluster optimization was successful you will see they both have a cluster number set to 1.

18) Click save (for the cluster setup sheet).

19) Print setup.

Later, next month if you run again it will still be clustered. You can either print the two setup sheets from the editor or you can go find your cluster file and print that. To me, it is easier to print from the editor because the cluster file will be saved in a weird subdirectory structure with the year, month, day, etc...

Hope this helps.
