CyberOptics’ innovative QX500™ AOI system is designed with a unique image acquisition solution – Strobed Inspection Module (SIM).

CyberOptics Corporation (Nasdaq: CYBE), a leading SMT inspection solutions provider, announces that it has been awarded a 2011 NPI Award in the category of Test and Inspection – AOI for its QX500™ AOI System. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, April 12, 2011 ceremony that took place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas during IPC APEX 2011.

CyberOptics' innovative QX500™ AOI system is designed with a unique image acquisition solution – Strobed Inspection Module (SIM), bringing forth yet another industry-leading, high-speed inspection solution matched with exceptional defect coverage and an extremely low false call rate.

The introduction of strobed white lighting in the QX500™ makes it the only AOI system to provide 'on-the-fly' area-scanning inspection at an incredible 200 cm²/sec, setting it apart from other conventional AOI systems. The QX500™’s dual fixed-angle lighting provides superb image quality for advanced automated inspection of solder and lead defects, presence and position, correct part and polarity for inspection down to 01005 components.

Combined with the innovative SAM software programming and inspection technology, the QX500™ allows users to deal with the numerous process variations across their global factories to include various vendors, PCB colors, and product types. Programs developed at one site can be easily ported for use at another site.

"The QX500™ platform, with its unique SIM module technology that does not require in-the-field calibration, provides customers with a hassle-free and high performance AOI platform to improve SMT line throughput and defect catch performance," said Dennis Rutherford, newly appointed General Manager for CyberOptics’ Inspection Systems Business.

Combined with CyberOptics’ latest SPC software - Process Monitor™, customers will be able to correlate AOI inspection data with CyberOtpics’ industry-leading SPI product inspection data, providing critical data to help with further process improvements.

"We are proud to be awarded the 2011 NPI Award for our QX500™ system. The technology incorporated in the system is a testament to the CyberOptics' innovation to bring together a flexible platform that improves yield, reduces cost and increases throughput. We appreciate the hard work of the entire CyberOptics team, our channel partners and our customers to make this product a success," said Kitty Iverson, CEO of CyberOptics.

Premiering in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
