Even unusually long PCBs with dimensions of up to 910 x 560 mm can be processed in SIPLACE SX1 and SIPLACE SX2 machines.

With options for long boards, heavy boards and thick boards, the SIPLACE Team is already offering a wide range of placement solutions for boards with unusual dimensions. Electronics manufacturers who use the SIPLACE SX1 or SIPLACE SX2 can now extend the range even further: With the SIPLACE Long Board 910 functionality they are now able for the first time to populate boards that are up to 910 mm (35.8 inches) long in a single, continuous placement process. In combination with the available variety of gantries, heads, vision systems, software and feeder modules, the new option represents another significant addition to the flexibility and application spectrum of the SIPLACE SX Capacity-on-Demand platform.

SIPLACE product manager, Petra Klein-Gunnewigk, holds a board, which can be produced with the new SIPLACE Long Board 910 functionality.

Effective immediately, even unusually long PCBs with dimensions of up to 910 x 560 mm can be processed in SIPLACE SX1 and SIPLACE SX2 machines. The enhancement is made possible by the new SIPLACE Long Board 910 functionality, which extends the limits of the previous SIPLACE Longboard Option (for PCBs up to 610 mm long) by another 300 mm by easily moving the stoppers in the circuit board transport system.

Super-long boards are often thicker and heavier, too´

After the conversion, the SIPLACE Pro 8.0 software permits the creation of powerful placement programs for such extremely long boards. If the excessive length also involves corresponding thickness and weight, the SIPLACE Heavy Board and SIPLACE Thick Board Options provide the prerequisites for handling boards with weights of up to 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and a thickness of up to 6 mm in a single process.

Combining these options enables electronics manufacturers to produce even products with extreme dimensions reliably and efficiently on SIPLACE SX lines. "The new SIPLACE Long Board 910 functionality underscores the flexibility of our SIPLACE SX Capacity-on-Demand platform. It further enhances our customers’ investment protection and makes these state-of-the-art placement machines especially attractive for the many specialists among electronics manufacturers who have found their niche in the production of exotic modules, i.e. highly demanding PCBs in small to medium-sized lots," says SIPLACE product manager, Petra Klein-Gunnewigk, about the wide range of customers who will potentially benefit from the SIPLACE SX’s options.
