Everett Charles Technologies’ CPG Receives a Patent for Its ZIP® Family of Flat Technology Pogo® Pins

Feb 23, 2011

Pomona, CA - Everett Charles Technologies’ Contact Products Group (CPG) has been awarded US Patent Number: 7,862,391for its ZIP® family of flat technology Pogo® pins.

Bud Fabian, ECT CPG President, said, “We are pleased that our unique flat technology ZIP® product family was granted a US patent. This was the first issued out of many pending patent applications throughout the world. The ZIP® family’s architecture and manufacturing technology is unique in that it is designed to meet a broad spectrum of applications, pitches and price points that are not offered by any other company in our industry today.”

The ZIP® family currently includes products for the final test, wafer scale, Kelvin, Scrub™ for lead-free, burn-in and test interface markets. Some of these application-specific ZIP® products are marketed under the following trade names:

ZIP® SCRUB™ ― The ZIP® SCRUB™ pin features a positive scrub-action pad and ball contact on lead-free plated array and peripheral devices where solder transfer leads to frequent cleaning and maintenance cycles.

ZIP® KELVIN ― ECT's ZIP® KELVIN is ideal for voltage-sensitive device tests on array or peripheral devices requiring sub-1 ohm resistance measurements typical in RDSON and high-power applications.

ZIP® SUPER SHORT ― The SUPER SHORT is designed for 0.5 nH low-impedance, high-frequency testing up to 40 Ghz.

ZIP® Long-Travel ― The ZIP® Long-Travel features an OAL up to 6.7 mm and was developed for contacting large devices and strip tests where planarity and compliance are an issue.

The ZIP® family will be featured in Booth A04 at the upcoming BiTS™ Burn-In & Test Socket Workshop, schedule to take place March 6-9, 2011 at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa Hotel in Mesa, AZ.
