Shining a Spotlight on the Industry’s Key Issues

Aug 10, 2010

Numerous industry-related conferences to be held at NEPCON South China.

The 16th edition of NEPCON South China, one of the largest and most comprehensive SMT events in the region will run at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from August 31 to September 2, 2010. Simultaneously, more than 10 high-end conferences will be held onsite. Together, the exhibition and seminars will attract leading companies in electronics manufacturing to discuss key issues in the industry. Among the issues will be current trends in industry technology, electronics manufacturing, advanced packaging technologies and the reliability of lead-free technologies. This means the show will be ensured of a vibrant environment in which ideas of how to boost China’s electronics manufacturing technology, innovative capability and service quality will be explored.

With the steady growth of China’s electronics manufacturing industry, manufacturing companies are seeing an explosion of new opportunities. Against this backdrop, advancement has become a common focus for the industry. NEPCON South China 2010 will bring together over 500 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions. A comprehensive display of more than 1,000 types of electronics manufacturing devices, test and measurement products, as well as related components and consumables will be onsite. Furthermore, the event will focus on the latest issues facing the industry by gathering numerous high-end professionals and presenting a series of highly technological symposiums alongside leading trade institutions.

The SMTA China South Conference is a key meeting for members of the region’s SMT trade. SMTA China will also organize the 2010 edition of this event to discuss the pressing issues in the industry. Other events will include the Technology Conference and the SMT Engineer Certification Course. These conferences will examine excellent process and material control, how to effect green assembly and production operation. The SMTA HK Chapter Annual Golf Tournament also will be held during NEPCON South China 2010.

During the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) that took place earlier this year, the government listed novel energy, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection as being strategic to emerging industries. These elements were all written into governmental work reports for the first time. This step was instrumental in encouraging more development in the new energy battery industry. As a result, more and more NEPCON exhibitors are now exploring alternatives in new solar energy. Reed Exhibitions, too, will focus on this field by holding the Solar Cell and Equipment Manufacturing Technology Summit 2010, together with Shenzhen Solar Energy Society and the Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISES). Industry veterans, including Zheng Zewen, Senior Consultant at Shenzhen Solar Energy Society; Su Zuyao, General Manager of DuPont Apollo Ltd.; Tan Manlin, Associate Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, and Dr. Wu Tong from TRONY Solar Holdings, will lead the summit. They will examine the fabrication process of thin film cell modules and discuss what opportunities are available for low carbon economy and new energy, as well as the latest advancements and fabrication technologies for thin film cells.

In addition, the Report on the Development of China’s Auto Industry, 2010 (part of the Bluebook of China’s Auto Industry, 2010) forecasts that during the 12th installment of China’s five-year plan segments (2011-2015), the Chinese auto market will sustain its rapid development. Annual production volume will stabilize at 15 million, then expand to 20 million by 2015. This will then render local output and sales volume the highest in the world.

China is becoming the global production and sales hub of automotive manufacturing. To drive the rapid development of this industry, stimulate the market for auto electronics and promote technical communication, as well as the creation of business partnerships, Reed Exhibitions, together with EEPW magazine, will host the “China High-End Seminar on the Application of Automotive Electronics Technology” at the same times as NEPCON South China 2010. Here, the focus will be on hot topics in the auto electronics industry and emerging technologies in South China. The seminar will showcase the latest integrated solutions for the audience; build a communication and interaction platform; increase the core competitiveness of the auto electronics industry and highlight the comparative advantage of South China in the auto electronics technology. The onsite activities will be an ideal channel through which visitors and exhibitors can communicate with each other while keeping abreast of the latest market information and trends.

Reed Exhibitions is committed to boosting industry development for every sector in which it has a presence. To recognize outstanding SMT engineers, Reed has launched the second edition of the Best Electronics Manufacturing & SMT Industry Engineer in China Award. The nomination period for the 2011 award will begin at NECPON South China 2010. Meanwhile, the South China recruitment for nominees for the Best Electronics Manufacturing and SMT Engineers Award 2011 will be held onsite as well.

SMT Home also will host the Engineers Salon and the SMT Home Member Gathering to mark the 10th anniversary of the foundation of SMT Home, as well as to provide a platform for moderators and members of SMT Home to discuss, face to face, pressing topics in the industry. A series of parallel activities, such as the distribution of SMT Home T-Shirts, will be held to encourage the active participation of SMT Home Members.

NEPCON Fans Club will demonstrate the points system set up to reward loyal visitors to NEPCON South China events. Simply by pre-registering online, visitors to the event can gain points for prizes. Additionally, visitors who join NEPCON Fans Club and use the online platform can win exclusive souvenirs from the show.

NEPCON South China 2010 will be the venue for numerous exciting on-site activities and forums on new topics, pressing industry issues, the latest information and future trends of the industry. This will allow the entire spectrum of the electronics manufacturing community to identify and procure, under one roof, all the key technologies and products needed to solve their manufacturing problems.

The organizers also will offer afternoon refreshments to Diamond Club members attending any of these three key seminars: PC manufacturing and solar energy, Mobile phone manufacturing and auto electronics, and Consumer electronics manufacturing and LED. During afternoon tea, the industry leadership can discuss optimization solutions for the electronics manufacturing industry.

As the electronics manufacturing industry’s key event in South China, NEPCON South China 2010 is sure to be a runaway success.
