NBS Receives ITAR Registration from US Department of State

Mar 12, 2009

Santa Clara March 2009 Leading EMS provider NBS Corporation announces that it recently received its official International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) registration from the US Department of State, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. ITAR regulates the manufacture, export and transfer of defense articles, information and services.

ITAR is a set of United States government regulations that controls the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List. Its goal is to advance national strategic objectives and U.S. foreign policy via the trade controls. The regulation restricts sensitive information and technologies only to be shared with US Persons, unless special approval is acquired.

To qualify for ITAR registration, NBS met strict requirements for corporate structure, security, record keeping, and procedures to allow the company to manufacture printed circuit boards (PCBs) for sensitive military and intelligence applications.

The receipt of ITAR adds to our quality certificationslineup including ISO9000-2001 & ISO14385. We are now poised to further penetrate the government, military and aerospacemarket sectors, said Chris Alessio, VP of Sales and Marketing.

NBS protects customers' proprietary designs and right to privacy, especially those relating to PCB assembly services for the military in which defense and security issues are key. While NBS already has experience with assembly for the military and aerospace industry, the ITAR specification now allows the company to do work in cases when design drawings and products require confidentiality.
