TRI integrates ASSET’s ScanWorks boundary-scan technology into its test systems.

Combining JTAG with ICT test systems delivers higher test coverage and reduces time-to-test

Richardson, Texas, and Taiwan, Taipei (April 17, 2008) – ASSET InterTech, Inc., (www.asset-intertech.com), the leading provider of boundary-scan (JTAG/IEEE 1149.1) systems for test, in-system programming (ISP) and embedded instrumentation applications such as design validation, test and debug, and Test Research, Inc. (TRI), a major provider of circuit board test and inspection equipment, have reached an agreement whereby ASSET’s ScanWorks technology will be integrated into TRI’s in-circuit test (ICT) systems.

Integrating ScanWorks into TRI’s test platforms reduces test costs for equipment manufacturers because boundary-scan tests can be re-used throughout every phase of a product’s life cycle. For example, ScanWorks tests developed during design for design validation and prototype debug are portable and can be easily migrated to high-volume manufacturing test platforms such as TRI’s ICT systems. No additional investment in test development is needed.

"TRI has earned its reputation by providing manufacturers with maximum test coverage. Today, we are finding that physical access for test probes is disappearing and our customers are turning to non-intrusive test technologies like boundary scan,” said Paul Lin, vice president at TRI--ShenZhen. “It is strategically critical for TRI to ally ourselves with the best-in-class JTAG solution and that’s what led us to ASSET.

Under the terms of the extended agreement, ASSET will be the preferred supplier of boundary scan systems and related intellectual property to TRI and its customers.

"ASSET’s and TRI’s technologies and business models are very complementary," said Alan Sguigna, ASSET's vice president of sales and marketing. "TRI has established a leadership position with its technologically-advanced, cost-effective test systems. As a result of this agreement, manufacturers will be able to globally deploy solutions from both ASSET and TRI, and the cost savings from test re-use alone will be quite substantial.”

About ASSET InterTech

ASSET InterTech, Inc. develops, markets, sells, and supports electronic test systems and services which utilize the embedded capabilities of the boundary-scan test standard (JTAG or IEEE 1149.1) or a CPU’s debug port. In addition to quickly and easily testing semiconductors, circuit boards and entire systems, ASSET’s ScanWorks system can access embedded instrumentation, such as Intel’s Interconnect Built in Self Test (IBIST) technology, to control advanced high-speed design validation routines like signal integrity analysis, bit error ratio testing (BERT), pattern generation testing and others. ASSET’s MicroMaster provides functional test and hardware diagnostic capabilities based on CPU emulation. ASSET InterTech is located outside of Dallas, TX, at 2201 North Central Expressway, Suite 105, Richardson, TX 75080.
