KIC to Showcase KIC Explorer and KIC 24/7 at Componex Nepcon India 2008

San Diego � February 5, 2008 � KIC, the leader of thermal process development and control products, and winner of multiple industry awards, announces that it will highlight the KIC Explorer and KIC 24/7 in distributor Mectronics Marketing Services� booth, located in Hall 6, Booth H 101-103 at the upcoming Componex Nepcon India 2008 scheduled to take place 20-22 February 2008 at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India.

KIC Explorer features an impressively compact design that allows the small unit to move easily through the restrictive process dimensions encountered in today�s thermal applications. It incorporates state-of-the-art SMT technology and high-temperature rated components, backed by KIC�s distinguished reputation for reliability. Users can depend on this rugged, innovative hardware to endure the harsh conditions of real-world factory use and today�s lead-free manufacturing.

Modern applications introduce an array of thermal process complexities whereby more thermal profile data is needed. As a standard feature, the KIC Explorer has 12 thermocouples to meet all requirements. The ingenious miniature-TC harness design makes this possible, and it is less expensive than using a standard Type-K thermocouple. (If Type-K thermocouples are preferred, the KIC Explorer is available in a standard Type-K, 7-channel model.)

Acquiring more data in a small unit is only the beginning. The KIC Explorer provides the highest sampling rate available, greater memory capacity and superior data precision. Thermal profile data are conveniently transferred to the user�s computer via a USB connection. The KIC Explorer is powered by standard AAA batteries; rechargeable batteries are optional.

Also on display will be the KIC 24/7 Process Monitoring system that brings an innovative level of automation to the solder reflow process: Automatic profiling of each and every product, around-the-clock monitoring, SPC charting, analysis, documentation and production traceability � all in a single, intuitive product. The real-time process data enables engineers and managers to make crucial cost containment and quality control decisions, thereby improving overall quality and consistency of performance, as well as providing significant cost benefits to users.

The KIC 24/7 automatically charts all critical process specs: peak temperature, soak time, time above liquidous, etc. The data is plotted on real-time control charts and process capability (Cpk) is calculated for each specification. The overall process window index (PWI) is charted, providing a real-time Cpk for the entire process. Any process drift outside of control limits or defined Cpk value will immediately trigger and document an alarm.
