Milford Manufacturing Services Introduces New Resource to OEMs

MILFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2003--

Company's New Product Introduction Development and Prototyping Lab Provides State-of-the-Art Equipment and Facilities to OEMs 24x7

Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) seeking to decrease time-to-market and control costs through product development can achieve these goals through a new resource from Milford Manufacturing Services (www.milfordmfg.com) - its New Product Introduction (NPI) development and prototyping lab.

The company's new $1 million NPI development and prototyping lab provides OEMs access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities 24x7, and links to The Looking Glass(TM), a flexible, virtual manufacturing environment providing online access to information and control of product and supply chains throughout the manufacturing process.

"The combined resources provide a powerful means to dramatically ease new product development and introduction projects," stated Ed Price, president and CEO of Milford Manufacturing Services. "And when new product introductions are market ready, The Looking Glass(TM) reduces the usual 'time-to-value' - the ROI following the ramp-up to production of a new product introduction - by enabling low-level production runs while accelerating the complete transfer of knowledge to high-volume Far East production.

"We are dedicated to the success of our customers," continued Price. "Our extensive lab offering is another example of our commitment to the market and our innovative approach to improving the overall manufacturing process. Our NPI development and prototyping lab allows OEMs to test out real-life production and development scenarios before moving to production."

OEMs utilizing the NPI development and prototyping lab will benefit from 24x7 access to full prototyping facilities without a major capital outlay, and a complete "mini-factory" with full build capabilities, including surface mount, plated through-hole, conveyorized assembly line and packaging.

In the lab, OEMs will have access to top-of-the-line equipment from Cookson Electronics Equipment, Fuji and Universal. In addition, the full-service facility provides OEMs with access to office and administrative support, as well as:

-- Complete engineering, purchasing, planning and operations;

-- Program management services with dedicated services; and

-- Periodic customer program reviews.

The NPI development and prototyping lab is available to Milford Manufacturing Services' customers. For information on lab availability, please contact Douglas E. Voiland, vice president, general manager at 508-478-8544.
