Although modern aqueous alkaline cleaning agents effectively remove flux residues, achieving satisfactory results often requires an increase in temperature, exposure time, chemical concentration, and mechanical energy that may affect material compatibility. This presentation includes data from three case studies detailing how newly developed pH neutral formulations have proven capable of removing difficult post reflow residues from complex board geometries without affecting the material compatibility of sensitive components.
