Metcal today announced that it has hired a new Regional Sales Manager for the Southwest. Gabriel Ortiz will manage Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mexico and South America.

Ortiz brings more than 20 years of experience servicing the electronics manufacturing industry, with a unique touch in that he has successfully lead teams in both the manufacturing and distribution environments to develop his business. He is a seasoned professional with a proven track record in developing and motivating teams to grow sales in the most demanding of markets.

In this role, Ortiz will be responsible for working with electronics manufacturers, including their design and manufacturing engineers and operators to improve efficiency and throughput with the optimized use of hand soldering and convection rework tools, and to improve health and safety through the use of fume extraction technology. Ortiz will also work with Metcal’s strong electronics manufacturer rep and distribution networks.

Bryan Gass, Global Vice President of Sales and Marketing, commented, “We are happy to have Gabriel on board. His proven track record in the electronics industry will be a great benefit to our customers in the Southwest and Mexico.”

Most recently, Ortiz headed all aspects of running and growing one of four divisions at EIS with a very strong focus on market penetration in a very intense multicultural environment. Prior to distribution, Gabriel led the structuring and implementation of a business unit that catered to the electronics manufacturing industry needs in all of Latin America while at HENKEL Electronics.
