Medical Electronics Symposium Keynotes Announced

May 07, 2015

The 10th Annual Medical Electronics Symposium will feature three dynamic keynote speakers at Marylhurst University near Portland, Oregon, on September 16-17, 2015. SMTA, iNEMI, MEPTEC and OregonBio will once again co-host this year’s international symposium, which will focus on advances in electronic technologies and advanced manufacturing, specifically targeting medical and bioscience applications.

John A. Rogers, Ph.D., University of Illinois, will kick off the event with his Keynote Presentation on "Soft Electronics for the Human Body." The talk will summarize fundamental and applied aspects of three recent examples that address currently unmet clinical needs: wearable electronics, high resolution mapping systems, and soft sensors and stimulators.

Benjamin Roussel, MedTech Activity Lead at Yole Développement, will provide an overview of the applications and the challenges faced when entering the wearable electronics and biosensors market in his presentation "Medical & Healthcare: What are the Opportunities for MEMS and Sensors?"

In his talk on "Design Challenges for Home Use Medical Devices," Greg Thompson, VP of Engineering within the Medical Division of Sanmina Corporation, will cover the challenges that are encountered when taking traditional medical devices and implementing them for the home use environment.
