Latest Layers Extends the Family

May 29, 2001

Edinburgh, Scotland, March 16 2001: Spider Software (www.spider.com), an Artesyn Technologies company (NASDAQ: ATSN) and supplier of STREAMS-based portable networking and telecommunications software, has further enhanced its telecommunications product suite by introducing a further set of products within its Signalling System 7 (SS7) family.

Spider Software, with over 15 years experience producing pedigree products has used its latest technologies to develop IP and WAN-based technologies with significant implications for the much demanded set of upper layer SS7 products.

"Since March last year, when Spider was acquired by Artesyn Technologies we've seen a significant program of investment in both internal resources and new product development. The fruits of these investments will be born with the introduction of a series of new products in the SS7/IP internetworking arena this year, the first of which, SCCP, TCAP and ISUP will be available shortly" says Dave Noble, President of Spider Software.

The upper layer product suite, incorporating SCCP, TCAP and ISUP will complement Spider's lower layer SS7 offerings and will enable a range of customers within the telecommunications market to offer stable and secure call handling to their end-users. This will offer current and future customers the benefits which stem from sourcing a range of next generation internetworking software technologies from a single source.

As with all Spider's products, the new SS7 upper layers have been designed within the STREAMS environment, which provides customers a highly flexible and portable means of migrating and integrating other elements of a protocol stack.

For a number of years, Spider has developed a reputation for its true customer orientation and its ability to deliver world-class products. "Since the acquisition by Artesyn we're now in a position to build on our customer service strengths and there has already been a strong interest in the new products planned for later this year, from a number of high profile customers" says Dave.
