SEHO Systems GmbH, a worldwide leading manufacturer of automated soldering systems and customer-specific solutions, will present the new SEHO SelectLine selective soldering system in booth # 2163 at IPC APEX EXPO 2014, scheduled to take place March 25-27 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new system features a PLUS in flexibility and efficiency resulting in a remarkable increase in productivity.
Time plays a key role in modern electronic production. With its revolutionary design, the SEHO SelectLine product family offers the highest precision and solder joint quality as well as a high degree of flexibility: no change-over is required to dynamically process a variety of assemblies with short cycle times.
The SelectLine machine concept is consistently modular, thus ensuring clear cost benefits. The fluxer module, various preheat modules and soldering modules may be equipped individually, and depending on the requirements, they can be configured into a complete manufacturing line. Even the smallest version, SelectLine-C, which is designed for stand-alone operation in the basic configuration, may be expanded with fluxer and preheat modules at any time to be used in inline processes.
The soldering area of the SelectLine scores highly thanks to its outstanding precision and flexibility. Two electro-magnetic soldering units for mini-wave processes may be integrated. Especially two new and unique features that are patented by SEHO ensure a remarkable increase in productivity.
Maximum throughput requirements are met with the Synchro concept. Typically, to increase production volume, additional soldering modules need to be added, or the machine has to be equipped with a dual conveyor to allow parallel processing of boards. These measures, of course, are related to a large investment in equipment. The Synchro concept is an intelligent software feature that coordinates the soldering process for two PCBs in such a way that the total throughput is nearly doubled without the need for significant investment. The assemblies can enter the soldering area independently and are not linked to the same cycle. With the new Synchro concept, cycle times can be reduced by nearly 50 percent.
The patented, automatic ultrasonic cleaning of the solder nozzles represents another highlight in the soldering area. What previously had to be made manually and with aggressive chemicals, now is automatically and environmentally friendly performed through the machine. With the ultrasonic cleaning unit, the liquid solder is set into oscillation which thereby gently cleans the surface of the nozzle. Using the existing inert atmosphere, the surface is completely re-wetted and the solder nozzle is restored to its original state. Besides a remarkably longer lifetime of the solder nozzles, this unique feature provides an absolutely stable process and significant time savings.
Of course, the SEHO SelectLine features a complete hardware and software package for automatic process control. It monitors the fluxing process, including the actually applied amount, provides automatic position correction and z-height correction, controls the wave height, and ensures MES integration. A unique feature is the possibility to integrate an AOI system for solder joint inspection directly after the soldering process.
