Isola's Suzhou Plant Receives ISO/TS 16949 Certification

Dec 18, 2013

Company Receives Its Third Automotive-Industry Certification for Its Commitment to Product Quality, Productivity, Competitiveness, and Continual Improvement.

Isola Group S.á.r.l., a market leader in copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepreg materials used to fabricate advanced multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), announced today that its plant in Suzhou, China has received ISO/TS 16949 certification. This is the company's third such certification, which represents the highest international quality standard for the automotive industry. Isola's plants located in Duren, Germany and Huizhou, China are similarly certified. The certification of the Suzhou facility is a significant achievement in the company's strategic roadmap to further its presence in the automotive market.

Manufacturers serving the automotive market must meet stringent qualification processes. The ISO/TS 16949 certification ensures that suppliers meet the exact specifications for the design and development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. The standard encourages the use of a process approach, which promotes improving efficiency and achieving the highest levels of product quality, productivity, competitiveness, and continual improvement.

"It is our mission to deliver the highest quality laminate materials in the industry." stated Ray Sharpe, President and CEO of Isola, who added, "ISO/TS 16949 certification represents a significant milestone in our quality management system and further demonstrates our commitment to serving our automotive customers."

Isola's materials are used in a wide range of automotive electronic systems, including engine control units, chassis control, active safety, driver assistance, infotainment and passenger comfort and convenience. The company recently introduced its very low-loss, Astra™ MT materials for advanced automotive safety and driver assistance systems that operate at 24 GHz and 77 GHz frequencies.

The company will pursue ISO/TS 16949 certification at its two plants in Taiwan in 2014 to support the anticipated increase in demand by its automotive customers for heavy-copper laminates and Astra MT.
