High-precision ESE US-X Series solder-paste printers offer advanced technology at competitive prices, feature 2-D paste inspection as standard.
Equipment Services, LLC announced that it has introduced a new line of ESE US-X Series solder-paste printers to the North American PCB assembly market. The advanced-technology SMT screen printers, which feature 2-D solder-paste inspection as standard, are built in Korea to the highest level of quality. The printers are designed to outperform high-end models from the best-known, most established solder-printer manufacturers, yet at a lower cost. Details on the ESE solder printers are available at www.eslsmt.com/equipment/screen-printers/smt-screen-printers-ese-us-x/.
All major components of the ESE solder printers, including the printing table, camera and squeegee, are controlled by high-precision servo motors instead of stepping motors and belts, for consistently high accuracy. The ESE printing table is precisely and firmly supported by four ball screws and three LM guides. This highly stable design, which is unique in the industry, allows even squeegee pressure across the entire width of the table, resulting in a repeatability of 12.5 microns.
Also unique in the industry is the ESE printing-table conveyor system, which does not have a fixed front or rear rail as with conventional printers. Instead, adjustable front and rear rails position the PCB directly over the center of the table, allowing consistent, high-precision paste printing for components down to 01005 (0402 metric) and pitches to 0.012 in. (0.3 mm). The ESE printers’ programmable five-stage snap-off function further contributes to their high printing quality.
An easy-to-use plunger mechanism enables quick stencil changeover, increasing productivity. In addition, the incoming and outgoing conveyor system features a patented one-touch width adjustment that uses LM guides instead of ball screws, for quick, trouble-free operation.
A Cognex® vision system features an up-down CCD camera and four separate LED rings — three for the PCB and one for the stencil — for fast, accurate recognition of PCB and stencil fiducial marks, as well as real-time 2D solder-paste inspection. A closed-loop feedback option allows automatic calibration of printing registration and adjustment of the stencil spraycleaning system by a downstream solder-paste inspection (SPI) system.
The ESE stencil spray-cleaning system features programmable wet, dry, vacuum and air-blow modes, for fast, thorough cleaning. The solvent tank is conveniently located on the side of the machine, eliminating the need to stop production for refilling. Other features include a mechanism to prevent the edges of the cleaning paper from fraying and a programmable paper saver. The user-friendly ESE software, which runs on the familiar Windows XP operating system, allows efficient programming of PCBs and easy access to maintenance and manufacturing data.

ESE Co., Ltd, with headquarters in Pyung Taek-si, South Korea, is a manufacturer of quality screen printers for the semiconductor and SMT assembly markets. Established in 1996 as an SMT nozzle and semiconductor parts supplier, ESE began building screen printers for the semiconductor industry in 2003, which led to the development of SMT screen printers in 2010. Since then, ESE has been the recipient of several prestigious industry awards and is widely considered to be the premier screen-printer manufacturer in Korea. Outside Korea, the company has distribution in China, Europe, the Philippines and, most recently, North America, where Equipment Services, LLC is the exclusive distributor of ESE screen printers.
