In the electronics manufacturing industry, pure DI-water processes are prevalent for removing water soluble (OA) flux residues. However, recent industry developments as well as customer case studies have shown that these water only processes may no longer produce the required cleanliness levels and thereby guarantee the long-term reliability of assemblies. Mr. Ravindran explores the restrictions of DI-water and provides a process solution that allows for an environmentally friendly and cost-effective cleaning process eliminating the need for high temperatures and concentrations while meeting the current cleanliness requirements.
Naveen Ravindran, M.S.Chem.Eng, is an active member of the Surface Mount Technology Association as well as the IPC. He has contributed to several case studies performed in collaboration with major cleaning equipment manufacturers. He was involved in the extensive technical paper series “Key to Low Standoff Cleaning” as well as the lead-free and eutectic screening series completed at ZESTRON’s Technical and Analytical Center.
