Universal Instruments Corporation is supporting a strategic growth initiative by substantially increasing the resources focused on Southeast Asia. With this change, the company is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Mark Norris as General Manager of Southeast Asia Customer Operations, reporting to Brad Bennett, Vice President of Global Customer Operations. All customer-facing resources in the region will report to Mr. Norris.

In this role, Norris is responsible for growing market share by cultivating and supporting sales of Universal’s broad solutions portfolio and range of service offerings in Malaysia, Thailand, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia and the Philippines. He will lead the Customer Operations team from the Southeast Asia office in Penang, providing sales, service and applications support.

Norris brings a wealth of experience and industry leadership in international sales and field operations. He most recently held the position of Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ViTechnology and Camelot for a combined 20 years. For both companies, he developed and managed sales and service in Europe and the whole of Asia.

Bennett comments, “It is a pleasure to have Mark on-board and we’re eager to leverage his experience and energy to further strengthen our presence and position in Southeast Asia. There is a significant opportunity to support our existing base and build on our prospective customer relationships now as manufacturing expands in the region. We expect Mark will be a key contributor to that effort.”

Norris gives his perspective on the new appointment, stating, “I am very excited to take on this new challenge with Universal. We are expecting considerable growth in the coming years and I look forward to implementing an infrastructure that is poised to support such market conditions.” He continues, “This is the right time to increase focus in the region and Universal is uniquely positioned to provide complete solutions for electronics manufacturers of all types with a portfolio that includes Surface Mount, Through-hole, Automation and Advanced Packaging offerings, as well as the industry-leading expertise of our Advanced Process Lab. This enables us to deliver an exclusive value proposition to all of our customers.”
