Being able to change setups on the line quickly and efficiently is especially important in modern electronics production environments with their many products and frequent product changeovers, because it improves your productivity and generates additional cost savings. This is where SIPLACE Stationwise Download comes into play, an option within the SIPLACE Line Operations Package. With SIPLACE Stationwise Download you can reduce the downtime during product changeovers considerably, because you no longer have to empty the line and can implement the changeover procedure without having to stop the line. On a line with four machines, for example, Stationwise Download can reduce the changeover time from approximately 9 minutes to as little as 47 seconds.
In the past you had to make sure that the last board had left the last machine on the line before you could start running the next job. As a result, the machines at the beginning of the line sat idle. Next you had to download the program for the new program and wait until everything was ready before the next job could start.
Seamless transition from machine to machine
By eliminating this wait time, the new SIPLACE Stationwise Download option can significantly accelerate the production of sequenced jobs – the line no longer needs to be emptied between jobs. This saves on valuable production time, particularly on longer lines. With Stationwise Download you can process the new product on the first machine while the second machine is still processing the previous product. Since the system downloads the program machine by machine, the production keeps running seamlessly and without stops, making for faster product changeovers. The smart PCB tracking across the line even includes the properly timed adjustment of conveyor widths.
Simple handling saves additional time
The operator can select and start Stationwise Download directly on the station software interface. Once this has been done, all that is left is to confirm the setup changeover process on the SIPLACE machine user interfaces, and the production switches automatically from the old product to the new one with no interruptions and no line stops.
