Facing Competition at Home and Abroad: How Can the Large LED Market Realize Its Liquidity?

Relevant data forecasts that the penetration rate of global LED lighting will reach 13% in 2012 and 33% in 2015. After the constant expansion of the LED commercial market, the consumer market of global LED lighting has been launched, the market scale of which is five times that of the former. China is the biggest lighting market in the world, accounting for 17% of the global lighting market share.

In recent years, the domestic LED industry has experienced booming development. The state has introduced a series of policies to support relevant projects, recently arranging RMB2.2 billion Yuan financial subsidies to further promote the development of the energy-saving lamp and LED lighting industry. With so much market space and such intensive support, a number of domestic lighting manufacturers have been enticed into the LED lighting industry. However, due to problems such as the deformity of the industrial chain and production-supply-marketing misplace, many enterprises went bankrupt. Consequently, since the second half of 2011, the entire LED lighting industry has been reduced to a large scale shuffle.

Meanwhile, the expansive market also tempts European, American, Japanese and other foreign-funded enterprises and Taiwanese-invested enterprises to join the Chinese market. In May, Osram signed with Wuxi to construct a new LED assembly plant in Wuxi, which is expected to be completed and in operation by the end of 2013, with LED chip packaging as its main business; GE Lighting’s innovation center in Chengdu has been operating officially, and another one in Xi’an also will be set up; Panasonic has been selling LED luminaries in the Chinese market since the beginning of 2012 and will enter Chinese LED light source market in August or September, of which the LED light source plant in Hangzhou will expand its productivity; Everlight Electronics, the biggest LED packaging enterprise in Taiwan, has established three LED lighting joint ventures recently in Shanghai, Chengdu and Tianmu of Jiangsu province.

Facing significant market vacancy, how to seize opportunities and stand out from the fierce competition home and aboard to capture a decent share from the tempting market remains a major problem for many domestic LED lighting enterprises.

CHINASSL2012, holding fast to the trends of the LED industry, will take place from November 5 (Monday) to November 7, 2012 (Wednesday) in Guangzhou, when manufacturers, dealers, purchasers, education and R&D organizations, lighting design organizations, investing & financing and advisories agencies, energy management contract companies as well as managers from associations, societies and governments, all of whom are from the related industries of LED lighting both domestic and abroad (such as raw material, devices, processing equipment, detecting instrument, system integration, applied products, etc.), will gather to discuss in-depth the development path of domestic LED lighting enterprises and the future of the LED lighting industry.

As is introduced by the organizers, the three-day forum will arrange two plenary sessions, which will discuss in depth the following topics: the new driving force of the semiconductor lighting industry under the context of global economic development, transformation orientation, goal and technological path for enterprises to pursue high efficiency and low cost of semiconductor lighting, new measures and new tendencies of the government in supporting and promoting the development of semiconductor lighting industry, etc. Moreover, there are various sessions and special events, including technological sessions, thematic sessions, regional dynamic, overseas special events, technical training, etc.

Additionally, Semiconductor Lighting Marketing Congress, which attracts much attention, will become one of the highlights of this forum. This congress will not only focus on the coordination mechanism and model innovation of suppliers, manufacturers and dealers, but also will discuss in depth the combination of the latest trends and industrial developments of LED, including price mechanism, technological innovation, policy trends, and so on. Meanwhile, an exhibition of the latest products and technology will be held concurrently.

To better match up with the pattern transformation and market demand of 2012 domestic semiconductor lighting industry, and to guide the virtuous competition between the upper, middle and lower reaches of the industrial chain as well as the counterparts from both home and abroad, the organizer has elaborately planned the overall arrangement of this exhibition and will promote four thematic exhibition areas: Materials and Manufacturing Equipment, Commercial Lighting, Outdoor Lighting and Achievements Show of Ten Pilot Cities, which will give a collective show of the latest products and technology from all fields of the semiconductor lighting industry.
