Valor Computerized Systems (Neuer Markt: VCR), today announced that Flextronics (NASDAQ: FLEX), a world-class electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider focused on delivering end to end solutions to original equipment manufacturers, has purchased its engineering products for advanced DFM and machine programming. Both the Enterprise 3000 DFM verification products and Trilogy 5000 CAM and machine optimization systems for electronics assembly and test will be located on a central server and implemented by all Flextronics Product Introduction Centers and manufacturing sites worldwide via a global licensing agreement.
This investment by Flextronics represents a strategy to create a fully integrated design-through-manufacturing environment that accelerates time-to-market while simultaneously increasing quality and manufacturability. Valor's best-in-class engineering systems provides optimized and robust CAD/CAM data passing into production, reducing manufacturing ramp-up times, reworks and overall product costs.
Nic Brathwaite, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, commented, "The Valor products will be an important part of our e-design strategy which is aimed to bring design, components and supply chain data to the designer and design environment."
"By standardizing on Valor's DFM and CAM solutions, Flextronics continues to enhance its suite of design services," said Julian Coates, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Valor. "The partnership between the two companies will continue to focus on delivering excellent design-through-manufacturing solutions to the industry."
Based on the open ODB++ data exchange format, Valor's Trilogy 5000 - and its internet-based physical parts library (the VPL) - solve time and cost problems of handling multiple types of engineering data such as design data, bills of materials (BOM) and approved vendor lists (AVL). This one source, high-level intelligent data exchange format allows for integrated, optimized data of manufacturing operations resulting in improved manufacturability, reduced costs and shorter NPI time-to-market.
Headquartered in Singapore, Flextronics is a leading provider of flexibility and speed in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the fast-growth communications, networking, computer, medical and consumer markets. Flextronics is a major global operating company with design, engineering and manufacturing operations in 27 countries and four continents. This global presence allows for manufacturing excellence through a network of global facilities situated in key markets that in turn provide its customers with the resources, technology and capacity to maximize productivity. Flextronics' ability to provide design and manufacturing services, coordinate innovative product design, provide a full spectrum of specialized services and IT expertise, in conjunction with their global presence, establishes Flextronics as a top-tier EMS provider.
