In a high-volume production test, the Multitest Mercury™ contactor significantly improved the FPY on average by two to six percentage points.

Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final test subcontractors worldwide, announces that its Mercury™ contactor, recognized for its excellent electrical and mechanical performance, proved its leading features in a head-to-head evaluation against another established contactor of an incumbent Asian competitor.

In a high-volume production test, the Multitest Mercury™ contactor significantly improved the FPY on average by two to six percentage points. Based on this outstanding result, the customer - an international IDM - has already started to deploy the Mercury™ into this application on multiple setups.

The Mercury™ success story includes thousands of contactors for singulated devices, strip test and wafer-level test, testing in dozens of high-volume production environments around the world. The popularity of the Mercury™ is due to its superior mechanical and electrical performance that results from its unique architecture and manufacturing process.

Multitest has been providing cost-effective test solutions using Mercury™’s flat probe technology for more than two years. The Mercury™ is qualified at several top 20 IDMs and fabless semiconductor companies. Long life and optimal yields are hallmarks of the Mercury™. Multitest customers have reported typical probe life of 500 k-700 k insertions (more than 1.5 M insertions in wafer-level applications)

The Mercury™ is a product of Multitest’s Contactors Division. In St. Paul, Minn., Multitest owns a site dedicated 100 percent to the contactor products.

Multitest (headquartered in Rosenheim, Germany) is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of test equipment for semiconductors. Multitest markets test handlers, contactors, and ATE printed circuit boards. Globally, more than 700 employees serve the company’s customers in offices and branches in North America, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, China and Thailand.
