Two exciting products were introduced at the SMH International Distributors meeting in Munich, Germany in November, 2015. SMH presented FlashRunner 2.0 and Intrinsic Quality showed the Prodigy. The FlashRunner 2.0 provides 4 to 16 independent channels of programming capability. FR 2.0 attracted a great deal of interest because of its blazing speed and its ability to address high complexity and dense storage devices such as EMMC.
The second half of the meeting featured the Intrinsic Quality Prodigy. The Prodigy is a production ready, stand alone, entry level programming station. It is based on the SMH FlashRunner FR01ENG. Mr. Lawrence Raymond, president of Intrinsic Quality provided an overview of features and benefits and demonstrated the utility of the station. Removing the Prodigy from packaging materials, Mr. Raymond had the Prodigy set up and ready for programming in seconds.
The demonstration illustrated the three prospective applications for an entry level stand-alone programmer.
1. The Prodigy can replace a variety of programming tools that have migrated from the engineering lab and been forced into inappropriate service on the manufacturing floor. For these applications the Prodigy can connect via cable directly to the programming header.
2. For higher volume applications the Prodigy can plug into simple interchangeable bed of nail fixtures.
3. For ATE applications Prodigy easily connects to the ATE fixture and will auto detect remote operation.
Mr. Raymond stated that Prodigy addresses a broad market of low volume high mix manufacturers who previously could not justify a commercial programming station. The Prodigy and FlashRunner can clean up and organize low volume programming changing an eyesore into a featured station all while reducing cost.
The International Distributors Meeting was held in conjunction with Productronica, the principal European electronics manufacturing exhibition. By the end of the meeting Prodigy demonstrations were requested for the subsequent Productronica. Again at the manufacturing exhibit the simple set up, versatile features and orderly clean approach brought accolades to the new product. Productronica was attended by over 38,000 visitors.
