Measurements of radiation levels at Osaka Distribution Center

Nihon Superior Co. Ltd., a supplier of advanced soldering materials to the global market, announces that it is able to report measurements of radiation levels to provide reassurance that products shipped from its distribution center in Toyanaka City, Osaka do not present any risk to its customers.

Since the Fukushima No 1 nuclear plant was damaged by the earthquake and consequent tsunami on March 11, 2011, Nihon Superior has been monitoring radiation levels of all goods received into and dispatched from the distribution center.

Results for the six months from September 2011 to February 2012 are tabulated below:
• Average value: 0.063 μSv/h (Sept 2011 to Feb 2012)
• Minimum value: 0.036 μSv/h (Sept. 15, 2011 10 a.m., fair weather)
• Maximum value: 0.090 μSv/h (Jan. 26, 2012 10 a.m., fair weather)

※1: Osaka Prefectural Institute of Public Health: Air levels were measured with the instrument 1m above the ground.  Measurements were made at 10 a.m. every day until December 27, 2011 and then every 2nd Wednesday.

※2: ICRP Publication 103
The 2007 Recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection
     Dose Limits in normal exposure:0.11 μSv/h (1mSv/year)

Measurements were made in accordance with the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and results were checked for consistency with those obtained by the Osaka Prefectural Institute of Public Health.

It is clear from these results that throughout the entire period since the earthquake, radiation levels for goods passing through the Osaka Distribution Center have stayed below the ICRP limits for normal exposure.

Nihon Superior will continue to monitor radiation levels to provide its customers with an assurance of the safety and reliability of its products.
